How to film your first concept video (even if you have zero experience!)

Welcome to NusaUGC! Top brands want organic, native-looking smartphone videos. You don't need a professional studio; you just need your phone, good lighting, and your authentic local voice. Use this simple framework to film a 15 to 30-second "concept video" using any product you already have at home.

Section 1

The Setup

Pass our Vetted Production Quality check! Before you hit record, make sure you meet our basic quality checks:

  • Lighting Setup Face a natural light source, like a window. Do not put the window behind you. We vet for clear lighting.
  • Vocal Clarity Find a quiet room with no background noise (turn off fans/TVs). Speak clearly.
  • Hardware Wipe your smartphone camera lens so it isn't blurry. Film vertically (9:16 format) for TikTok/IG.
  • Local Fluency Speak naturally! We want your authentic Singlish, Bahasa Melayu, or Bahasa Indonesia delivery.

Section 2

The Video Structure

The Winning Formula: Film a quick review of your favorite skincare item, snack, or gadget using these three parts:

1

The Hook (0 - 3 Seconds)

You must capture the viewer's attention within the critical first 3 seconds of scrolling. Start with a bold statement, a question, or a visual action (like opening the product).

Example: "If you live in [Singapore/Malaysia/Indonesia] and hate [common problem], you need to see this."

2

The Problem & Solution (10 - 15 Seconds)

Brands want high-converting videos. Show, don't just tell. Briefly explain the problem you used to have, then demonstrate how the product solves it. Show the product in use in a familiar environment.

3

The Call to Action / CTA (3 - 5 Seconds)

Tell the viewer exactly what to do next. End the video by pointing down or telling them where to find it.

Example: "Click the link in the bio to get yours before it sells out!"

Edit and Submit!

Use a free app like CapCut to trim your clips together. Keep it under 30 seconds, fast-paced, and engaging. You can submit the NusaUGC Creator Intake Form first even if your concept video is not ready yet. After submitting, upload your final video to a Google Drive folder and email us the link.
